The workshop was officially opened with remarks from Ms. Tina Jamaluddin Acting Regional Managing Director and Chief Representative for Malaysia, US-ABC, and followed by Mdm. Noor Afifah binti Abdul Razak, Deputy Secretary General for Policy and Monitoring, Ministry of Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives Development. The program consisted of 3 sessions: 1) Panel Discussion: Enhancing Malaysian SMEs Ecosystem Development to Navigate into Digital Economy, 2) Individual Company Showcases: Private Sector Support to Furthering Digitalization for Malaysian SMEs, and 3) Dialogue with SMEs, SME Corp. Malaysia Program, and ASEAN SME Academy Session. Ms. Sivaranjini Anbalagan, Assistant Director for Digital Economy Division, Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia; Mr. Fabian Bigar, Chief Executive Officer
MyDigital Corporation; Mr. Zaky Moh, Deputy CEO Implementation and Development Office, SME Corp. Malaysia; Mr. Debarun Roy Choudhury, Senior Director and Head, Commercial and Money Movement Solutions, Southeast Asia, Visa; Mr. Alp Mahavera, Industry Business Architect, SAP; and Ms. Dararin Choomsai Na Ayuthaya, Public Policy Manager for Southeast Asia, Amazon, were the panelists of the panel discussions session. They discussed extensively about the current outlook and recent developments of the digital economy in Malaysia, as well as opportunities for Malaysian SMEs.
For the second session, it was filled with US-ABC member companies showcasing their support and ways to support SMEs’ development better. The session was divided into four separate sessions featuring Mr. Debarun Roy Choudhury, Senior Director and Head, Commercial and Money Movement Solutions, Southeast Asia, Visa; Ms. Aubrey Xiao, Business Development and Partnerships Manager, Amazon Global Selling; Mr. Jitu Agrawal, Vice President & Head of S/4 HANA Cloud Public Edition, Asia Pacific & Japan and Mr. Addy Lim, S/4 HANA Public Cloud Lead for Southeast Asia Region, both from SAP; and Mr. Nick Selff, Head of Property and Casualty, Malaysia, Chubb.
The third and last session featured Ms. Olivia Quah, Co-Founder and Executive Director, iElder.asia and Ms. Nur Suhada Ahad, Deputy Director for International Cooperation Division, SME Corp. Malaysia. They shared about their experience as a woman entrepreneur in Malaysia, followed by sharing of capacity-building and assistance programs from SME Corp. Malaysia, and the ASEAN SME Academy session. The workshop was concluded by remarks from Ms. Tina Jamaluddin Acting Regional Managing Director and Chief Representative for Malaysia, US-ABC.
