Established in 1984 and based in Bandar Seri Begawan, the CWBD acts as a national body representing the views of women in the economy. CWBD acts as an umbrella organization with 13 member associations, each formed to support certain aspects of women’s welfare and interests. CWBD’s specific support for women entrepreneurs is led by CWBD’s Committee on Business and Entrepreneurship, which sponsors a number of services and activities, including events pertaining to social enterprise development.
